Your Manual Ironworker Can Do More Than You Think

A manual ironworker and the TigerStop automated material positioner team up to give you one of the fastest and most accurate semi automatic or fully automatic ironworking solutions on the market.

If you have experienced a manual ironworker before, you already know that you’re getting a powerful performance. Many have a large range of standard workstations, making them a fantastic long-term investment for your growing operation.

Why an Ironworker?

Ironworkers are a popular choice among metalworkers for many reasons, including:

  • They have stations for punching, bending, bar shearing, angle shearing, round bar shearing, coping, and notching—all in one!
  • They have dovetail slides that allow operators to switch from punching to bending in just a few seconds.
  • Many have full electrical control of their strokes with footswitches and limit switch stroke controls. This coupled with their urethane strippers gives them a remarkably fast punching stroke.

We have good news! One of the best ironworking multitaskers can get even better. How is that possible you might ask? Well, if you have ever operated a manual ironworker, you know that it has its pitfalls—inaccuracies, human error, and operator fatigue, to name a few. This is where TigerStop automation enters.

TigerStop x Manual Ironworker Integration

The TigerStop x ironworker integration creates a fully automated punch. The TigerStop comes with the stop, back fence, and table, plus an Advanced Interconnect Kit 2 (AIK2).

TigerStop allows users to download punching cut lists and run the tool with an incremental movement or pattern list. Users can also place material, enter a length, and use the TigerStop as an automated stop. Every time the material moves, the operator simply uses the foot pedal to cycle the tool.

Using the TigerStop positioner, you can push material through and feed your ironworker punch station. It doesn’t matter what model of Piranha ironworker you have—the TigerStop integration is universal. And to simplify matters, a new or existing ironworker can be integrated with a TigerStop. If you currently have an ironworker and are thinking about automating it, here are some things to consider.

A Force to be Reckoned With

Together, a manual ironworker and TigerStop allow every operator to be your best operator. Automating your ironworker with a TigerStop not only reduces operator fatigue (no more handling or pushing material through the punch), but now your operator is free to inspect parts and ensure every piece is perfect. Think happy customers.

Additionally, you will never have to worry about inaccurately punched parts again. TigerStop eliminates human error and the need to rework inaccurately worked parts.

The icing on the cake is that you can also add a TigerStop to the angle, shear, or notching station on your ironworker.
