TigerLink 5.X now has the ability to create cut lists on multiple computers within a Microsoft Windows XP based network. One computer is setup to act as the “server” which will communicate with the TigerStop. The other computers, on the same workgroup, should also have TigerLink 5.X installed, but not the TigerServer.
File Sharing must be enabled on each computer running TigerLink. If file sharing is not enabled, cut lists will not be sent to the Scheduler correctly. Since Windows XP has added security for certain folders, TigerLink needs to be installed to a folder other than Program Files.
Installing TigerLink: Insert the TigerLink CD into your CD-ROM drive. The auto run window should display as pictured below.
Select TigerLink 5.x button and go through the install until you reach the following screen
Change the destination folder to something other than Program Files. We recommend using C:\TigerStop. Continue installing TigerLink As normal. If this is the computer that will be connected to the TigerStop, when prompted, install TigerServer.
If this is a computer that will be sending cut lists to the computer running TigerServer, do not install the TigerServer when prompted. Once you have TigerLink installed, you need to share your folders.
Sharing Folders: To turn Simple File Sharing on or off in Windows XP Professional, follow these steps: 1. Double-click My Computer on the desktop. 2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options. 3. Click the View tab, and then select the Use Simple File Sharing (Recommended) check box to turn on Simple File Sharing. (Clear this check box to turn off this feature.) To view a video about how to turn Simple File Sharing on or off, click the Play button ( ) on the following Windows Media Player viewer: http://support.microsoft.com/servicedesks/ShowMeHow/304040.asx

Right-click the folder labeled “Cutlists” and then click Sharing and Security 2. Click to select the Share this folder on the network check box, and then click Permissions 3. Under Group or user names, Highlight Everyone and then click the check box for Full Control The other check boxes should also become checked. 4. Click Ok to both windows. The TigerStop should now be shared on your workgroup allowing People to change your files.
Click Ok to all the windows. Your “Cutlists” folder should now be shared so others can write to the folder.
Setting up remote computers to access the TigerServer: Now that you have File Sharing enabled on the computer that is hosting the TigerServer, its time to configure the other computers running TigerLink to access the server. Start TigerLink normally by selecting “continue” on the splash screen
Once in TigerLink, select “Options” from the Toolbar, and then select “TigerLink Configuration” from the list. The TigerLink Configuration window should display.
Click the
Select the name of the computer running the TigerServer you wish to send cut lists to and click ok
Click OK again to confirm the changes TigerLink should now be setup to send cutlists to the computer running TigerServer.
Verify you can see the TigerStop’s that are setup on the computer running TigerLink and TigerServer by selecting the TigerStop tab. You should see a screen like the following:
If everything is setup correctly, you should be unable to make changes to the TigerStop(s) that are configured on the system running the TigerServer. Finish setting up TigerLink with your Work Order Program, or go through the File Configuration Wizard.
Workgroup setup is now complete! You should now be able to send worklists to the TigerStop. |
